Addresses need to be CASS-certified.
In order, to get postage discounts for mailings, the addresses must be CASS Certified. If you want your mail to be delivered to the correct address as quickly and cheaply as possible, you need to standardize your addresses. This means that all your addresses should be consistent. Let’s say you live at 123 South Main St and you standardize this address, it would become 123 S Main St.

Why should my company use Direct Mail?

  1. Why Send Direct Mail?
Mail is personal. People look through mail and that means people have to spend at least a moment with your message. Sometimes that’s just enough to get their attention and lead them to your sale.
  2. Who should you mail to?
Mail to the people with whom you do business. Mail to the people you would like to do business with. You can rent lists of potential customers and mail to them. Send mail to as many people as possible and let them know about your great offer.
  3. What should you mail?
You can mail postcards, letters, self-mailing brochures or whatever you think will fit your business. Professionals may prefer letters while retailers may prefer flyers.
  4. When should you mail?
Mail anytime you need to communicate with prospects or current customers. For example, mail to customers to let them know about upcoming events: A bookstore can let its best customers know in advance when best-selling books are coming out.
  5. Where do you send mail?
Send your mail to anyone who can do business with you. If you’re a local store owner, you can mail to every home in your neighborhood and surrounding areas.

Get more response from your mailings!

  1. Highlight an offer
(A good offer is powerful and is often in the headline of a letter. Make sure that your offer has an expiration date. More people respond to an offer when there is a limit on the time they have to respond.
  2. Emphasize benefits, not features
Benefits are how the product improves life, and features are what the product has. For example, a lawn mower attachment that picks up leaves from your yard is a feature; the benefit is that it makes your yard look beautiful.
  3. Put a P.S. on your letter
The P.S. is often read before the body. This makes the P.S. able to remind the person of the offer or the main benefit.
  4. Make it personal
Personalization is the key to developing a relationship with your customer or prospect. You should always address customers by name.

Make The Most of your Postcard!

  1. Mail Often!
No, this is not some cheesy gimmick! You really should mail often. Direct mail is not only used to offer something to your reader, but also used to keep you at the Top of Their Mind! In order to gain, awareness and business, you always be at the “Top of The List”. Mail a postcard once a month to see how your business will grow!
  2. Make sure it is…Simple…
Use as little words as possible to communicate the most that you can!
  3. Attention Grabbing…
Make sure to grab the attention of your reader! Use an attention teaser on one side and information about your products and services on the other.
  4. Measurable…
If you provide an offer for your reader and they accept, you can measure the amount of response that you get from that mailing. This is important to find out what works and what does not work for your reader.
