A permit imprint is used in place of a stamp.
Permit imprints are placed in the upper right hand corner of a
mail piece, tells the post office what class of mail is being sent
and who is paying for the postage.
A
permit is made up of 3 to 4 lines of text reading: class
of mail, “U.S. Postage PAID”, the permit number,
and the post office of entry. Sometimes, in place of the
post office
of entry and permit no., the permit holders company name can
appear.
There are some requirements to using a permit imprint:
- For First-Class Presort, the minimum quantity is 500 pieces,
which must include a return address on the outside, and weigh
13 ounces or less.
-
For Presort Standard, minimum quantity is 200 pieces, which
do not require a return address (unless an ancillary endorsement
is being used). Any returned pieces that bear an ancillary endorsement
will be charged first-class postage to the recipient.
-
For Non-Profit Org. the minimum quantity is 200 pieces. A non-profit
status must be applied for and authorized by the post office
in order to receive postage discounts.

we will give you the information to put on your mailing piece.
